The Philippines (Filipino: Pilipinas), officially the Republic of the Philippines (Republika ng Pilipinas; RP), is an archipelagic nation located in Southeast Asia, with Manila as its capital city. The Philippine archipelago comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, bordering countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Palau and the Republic of China, although it is the only Southeast Asian country to share no land borders with its neighbors. The Philippines was formerly a Spanish then an American colony. The Philippines ultimately gained its independence from the United States on July 4, 1946 after the Pacific War via the Treaty of Manila.  Today, the Philippines has many affinities with the Western world, derived mainly from the cultures of Spain, Latin America, and the United States. Bachelors Programs for study in Philippines 
A Bachelors Degree is generally conferred after four years study. The minimum number of credits required for four-year Bachelors Degrees in various universities & colleges in Philippines range from 120 to 190. In some fields, such as Business, Teacher Education, Engineering and Agriculture, one semesters work experience is required. In Pharmacy, some HEIs choose to offer the five-year programme with permission from CHED. An internship is required prior to the board examination in Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy. Medical Technology and Radiology Technology are four-year courses with a one-year internship at the 4th year level in an accredited training centre/hospital. Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy is a five-year course with a clinical internship at the fifth-year level in an accredited training centre/hospital. Nutrition and Dietetics is a four-year course with supervised field experience in the second semester of the fourth-year level in Hospital, Food Service and Public Health. In Engineering, Architecture and Music the Bachelors Degree is conferred after five years study and in Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine in Philippines after six years. Medicine and other Health-related programmes require one years internship or clerkship in an accredited training centre/hospital. In Dentistry, there is a two-year preparatory course and a four-year course. The Veterinary Medicine course comprises two clerkships, three internship units and 14 field experience units. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is obtained after four years study at a college or university. Related learning experiences start during the second semester of the 1st year level.

Masters Degree Programs for study in Philippines
Post Baccalaureate (Certificate/Diploma); Masters Degree in different universities & colleges in Philippines:

Certificates and Diplomas are conferred on completion of one or two years of study beyond the Bachelors Degree. They are not equivalent to a Masters Degree. To be 

admitted to the Masters Degree, students must have a general average of at least 85 or B or 2 in the undergraduate course. The Masters Degree normally requires a 

further two years study (in Architecture five). In Law, students must already have obtained a four-year Bachelors degree in another subject and secured a Certificate 

of Eligibility for Law from the institution in which they wish to enrol. The degree often takes eight years to obtain. In Medicine, students must first obtain a 

Bachelors degree in another relevant subject before beginning a four-year course in Medicine.

Student Visa details for study in Philippines
Student Visa:
•    The student visa is issued in Philippine embassies/consulates abroad. It is not issued in the Philippines.
•    The student visa is initially valid for one year. It is renewable every succeeding semester. 
•    Exchange Student Visa - 47(a) (2)
47(a)(2) visas are issued to officially designated exchange professors, researchers, and students coming from foreign universities with an existing Memorandum of 

Agreement (MOA) with the University of the Philippines
47(a)(2) visas are valid until the end of the exchange agreement or scholarship contract
•    The visa is generally processed and issued here in the Philippines. It can also be issued through Philippine embassies or consulates abroad
•    It can be renewed if the scholarship or agreement is extended for a definite period of time
•    Exchange fellows and students are requested to immediately report to the OSA upon arrival in Philippines.

PROCEDURE FOR VISA APPLICATION 
Step 1: When a schools requirements are met it sends a Notice of Acceptance (NOA) to the student. A duplicate copy is submitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs 

(DFA), together with the certified true copy of CHED-CEA when necessary. For quota courses such as medicine and dentistry, a certificate of eligibility for admission 

(CEA) is also issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Step 2: The department of foreign affairs endorses documents to the Foreign Service Post (FSP) located in the students country of origin/place of legal residence for 

the issuance of the student visa.

Step 3: The Philippine Embassy or consulate notifies you in writing to appear in person for an interview and bring all the required documents.

Step 4: Upon receiving the letter from the Philippine Embassy/Consulate, you will have to make an appointment to appear for an interview at the consulate or embassy.

4. Medical Health Certificate (DFA Form 11) in triplicate with life-size chest x-ray and laboratory reports

6. Police Clearance Certificate authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate located in students country of origin or legal residence
7. Original School certificate

School education
Primary education lasts for four years and intermediate education generally lasts for two years. They constitute six years of elementary education (Grades 1 to 6). 

Pre-school education (nursery, kindergarten, preparatory and others) and 7th grade are optional. Secondary education usually lasts for four years. Compulsory subjects 

include English, Filipino, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Practical Arts, Youth Development Training and Citizens Army training. The cycle culminates in the 

examinations for the High School Diploma. The National Secondary Aptitude Test is taken at this time.
Higher education 
Higher education is provided by higher education institutions (HEI) composed of public and private universities and colleges. The state universities and colleges 

(SUCs) on which charters have been conferred are autonomous. In terms of enrolment, a huge majority of students are in private HEIs. The Commission on Higher Education 

(CHED) created in 1994 oversees both private and public tertiary schools, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) postsecondary technical and 

vocational education, while the Department of Education is in charge of basic education (elementary and high school).
